Welcome and thank you for dropping by the first post for Foodzine! Briefly, this site will feature reviews of restaurants, wines, beers and other drinks, worthy ingredients as well as industry news and issues and the odd opinion piece. We will have regular contributors and also invite submissions from the industry and the public on relevant topics. In short we are looking to create a food and wine information hub that entertains as well as informs and also shines a spotlight on the good, the great and the in-need-of-help. We have called it a ‘zine’ because it varies slightly from a blog.
According to Wikipedia, “An ezine (also spelled e-zine) is a more specialized term appropriately used for small magazines and newsletters distributed by any electronic method, for example, by electronic mail. An online magazine shares some features with a blog and also with online newspapers, but can usually be distinguished by its approach to editorial control. Magazines typically have editors or editorial boards who review submissions and perform a quality control function to ensure that all material meets the expectations of the publishers (those investing time or money in its production) and the readership.”
Over the coming weeks we will be introducing our contributors to the various reports that will cover restaurants, bars, GenY hangouts, craft beer, crazy little wine finds, recipes and issues that affect the industry and their diners.
Most important is fair and accurate reporting written with humour and humility We welcome comments and submissions from far and wide and encourage you to express your opinion as strongly as you see fit. Contact us on ….
