Imagine a rehab that reserves Wednesday nights for beer and pizza and Cider and Sliders are on offer all day and into the wee hours on Thursday. Gamblers and plastic surgery addicts may find this unusual treatment method successful but I’m not so sure about those of us who love our food and drink a little too much….just saying….
And whoever put the words Rehab and Brewhouse in the same sentence?
In fact Rehab Brewhouse is a new bar/eatery located in a Woolstore on Vernon Terrace at Newstead. Rustic charm, albeit with a modern edge is firmly embraced and the place is literally made for small and medium groups who enjoy sharing tapas-style dining.
Groups sit at big raw timber tables but there’s more intimate seating available inside. Each night of the week there is a different special, Tuesdays are 2 for 1, Wednesdays are beer and pizza for $15 and Thursdays are becoming popular because of their cider and slider deal.
For Wednesday’s beer and pizza night there are three of the “chefs special pizzas” on offer that vary week by week and a range of seasonal craft beers and ciders on tap. “Genova” is our choice with prosciutto, tomato and fresh bocconcini topped with fresh basil and drizzled with balsamic. They are fresh, bursting with flavour and were the perfect size to share. But if you’re not into pizza, there are so many other dishes to choose from including crispy pork belly and a mini lamb rack with pistachio nut crust and balsamic reduction. Note: portion sizes are big so come with the appropriate appetite!
To accompany the delicious range of food, Rehab boasts an extensive craft beer, cider and boutique wine list (again, there’s a sentence no one saw coming). Beers and cider are available by the bottle and on tap, including the increasingly popular Rekorderlig. The carefully selected varieties of wines change seasonally and are in keeping with the oft-changing menu.
Following the theme there is a ‘self help’ table where you can find cutlery, toothpicks and plates (no self harming people). Service can be patchy but on the night of our visit it was friendly, relaxed and prompt. Walk-in’s are accommodated during the more quiet nights during the week but bookings are recommended for weekends.
